Musolla @ Gardens Hotel (Mid Valley)

Men's musolla at room 808; ladies' musolla at room 809

The ablution area, which is the hotel's bathroom

 The prayer hall

LOCATION:
8th Floor

LOCATION RATING: 2/10
It's clear that the musolla here is just an after thought as they are using empty hotel rooms as temporary musolla area only. Not publicly accessible as it is always under lock and key. We had to ask for a key from the Front Desk everytime we need to use this surau and this is a terrible hassle. Imagine having to ask for the key 3x in one day to perform Zohor, Asar & Maghbrib prayers. At one point I was even asked to give a room number - of course, we were not staying there.

SPACE RATING: 7/10
Ample space and comfortable as not many people know about this musolla just yet.

SAFETY RATING: 10/10
Since it's under lock and key at all times, it's very safe and private. There could be times when you could be only one using the musolla.

FACILITY RATING: 4/10
No proper ablution area. Though the bathroom is comfortable, it is not practical.

CLEANLINESS RATING: 10/10
Very well maintained and clean.

OVERALL RATING: 6.6/10

Musolla @ JUSCO Mid Valley Mega Mall

The ablution area.

The prayer hall.

LOCATION:
2nd Floor, Home Department in JUSCO, near the toilets

LOCATION RATING: 9/10
Located in high traffic area, easily accessible and close to toilets.

SPACE RATING: 2/10
The mall is always busy with shoppers and space is seriously a major problem. It's only enough to cater for 8 people performing solat at one time comfortably. Because of limited space, the layout is crammed - ablution area is immediately adjacent to the prayer hall so the floors are often wet.

SAFETY RATING: 6/10
Because there's many people, safety is an issue. Mind you own valuables and shoes.

FACILITY RATING: 1/10
Please be wary that the kiblah direction is very doubtful as we noted kiblah is different for men and women's prayer halls. Basic facilities provided but there is no proper shoe rack to store your shoes safely.

CLEANLINESS RATING: 2/10
Poorly maintained. There is no clear divider between the ablution area and the prayer hall, with no area to dry your feet, causing the prayer hall to be wet, slippery and smelly.

OVERALL RATING: 4/10

Musolla @ KL Bird Park

The Musolla at KL Bird Park, a different building by itself near the parking lot, a few yards away from the Ticketing Counter.

The open-air ablution area with views of shrubberies and the bird park in the distance.

The prayer hall

LOCATION RATING: 8/10
Located in an open area in a quiet parking lot with little traffic. There's no covered walkway to the musolla from the main building, so if it's raining you're gonna get wet. :)

SPACE RATING: 8/10
We went on a weekend but not during peak season. Space is just nice for the number of Muslim visitors to the park.

SAFETY RATING: 6/10
The musolla is a separate building from the main building & Ticketing counter so it's far from the public area. It can get too quiet and we advice women not to go unaccompanied. Also, do mind our own shoes.

FACILITY RATING: 5/10
Basic facilities provided but there is no proper shoe rack to store your shoes safely. The door to the ladies musolla is broken and does not close properly, plus the ablution area for ladies is open air, so this cause major inconvenience to sisters who have to take off their hijabs. Community prayer clothes are provided but the cleanliness is questionable.

CLEANLINESS RATING: 5/10
Not well maintained and fixtures need fixing. Remember the ablution area for both ladies and men musollas are open area, so you need to watch out for bird droppings and little critters like bugs and geckos.

Musolla @ Bangsar Shopping Centre

The ablution area at the Men's musolla

The prayer hall

Location: Basement, parking lot
We were told that this musolla is only temporary as they are in the midst of building a new one. This one is really out of the way from the mall and a total inconvenience. Hopefully the new musolla will be better.

LOCATION RATING: 6/10
Located in a hot, noisy & busy parking lot basement. Quite an inconvenience for shoppers.

SPACE RATING: 8/10
Though this is a temporary musolla (both for men and ladies), prayer hall space is ample and not too congested even during peak hours.

SAFETY RATING: 5/10
There are guards manning the parking area but not the musolla area. There are no CCTV located near the entrance of the musolla.

FACILITY RATING: 6/10
Fully air-conditioned, however a better ventilation is needed.

CLEANLINESS RATING: 6/10
The carpet is new but is not well maintained.

OVERALL RATING: 6.2/10 - not so bad for a temporary musolla.

Musolla @ KLIA

Location: Main Terminal Building, Departure Level (Level 5) between check-in gates AB and CD, next to Asian Cafe.

LOCATION RATING: 10/10Located in a quite, secluded area near shops, a cafe and KFC, it is easily accessible when you're on level 5.

SPACE RATING: 9/10
Though this musolla (both for men and ladies) can sometimes be pretty busy during Maghrib prayers in peak traveling season, the size is comfortable enough.

SAFETY RATING: 10/10
There are no guards manning the musolla but it's safe enough as it is located near shops, cafes and KFC. If you are traveling through, please remember to be watchful and wary of your own baggages. Better yet, check-in your baggages before solat.

FACILITY RATING: 9/10
Limited space for hand-carry luggages though there is a paid locker area nearby where you can store your belongings. Prayer clothing (telekung) in the ladies' musolla are clean and well kept.

CLEANLINESS RATING: 9/10
Well maintained.

OVERALL RATING: 9.4/10
